Counting down!!

Hello!!

So, the last time I wrote on this thing was a wee while ago!! My bad!!
The last couple of weeks have been pretty full on, well for me anyway, there’s only 15 days till I fly to Belgium and as I’m sure every other bike riders will know what its like, the biggest stress is the money!! last year I was practically in tears almost every day stressing… yeah I know, I’m a girl its what we do….but this year even though im slightly crapping myself about it I’ve decided to go with the flow and hope that things will come right just in time!! (hey Im selling some SRM cranks, if anyones interested email me please, that will pay for my flights) :)    I’ve
been lucky enough with one of my new sponsors though, who blew me away with how willing to help and how generous they were!!  ( you know who you are, I know the girls will be reading)

Right now I’m in Wellington visiting my brother and his wife! They got married last year and I missed their wedding (away racing) and in 4.5 years my bro’s been here I have never actually taken the time to just visit and see what its like!! Slack ay!!

Riding’s going ok, still trying to find out why I keep cramping, I’ve had my bike set up done professionally now, blood tests, musle balance etc…. so fingers crossed that helps out!  Aucklands Bike the Bays  are tomorrow, and I would love to have done it, but right now im sitting here with a box of tissues on my left, computer in my lap and a pile of used tissues to my right, coughing and splattering my fluids on my bros computer!!  Sorry Dan…..  So its not quite the best buildup for the racing in Europe, but I’m trying.

Then the following weekend’s Rotorua to Taupo 100km flyer  Im thinking I will have to rest up till Monday and start from scratch. Peak Fuel is one of the major sponsors of the event  yeeeeeaahhhh!!! so look out for me in the bright kit (the one in the pic, and the pink and white Pinarello, talk about clashing colours!!)

Righto, I’m off for lunch, hope everyone’s good!!  And Brent, cheers for your comments and that link for the photos!! It’s cool!! :)  And everyone else  of course!!

Tour Of Wellington….. Finally

Hi there!! well its been like 4 weeks, and I have finally got myself a place to post up the report from Welly…. I had it all written out as the week of racing was happening I just never put it up!!  so hope it makes sense!!  :)

Geelong and wellington continued…….

So, we arrived back from Melbourne at 1.30am Monday morning! I was pretty pleased with myself being able to offer Tones a lift home as I had my car parked at the airport…. Well that was until 2 am, and the battery was dead! Oops… I have no idea why but it was completely gone! So I’m guessing this happens quite often and the guy at the parking booth didn’t seem one bit surprised! Anyway 10 min and $20 later we were off!! The drive home was interesting, as the car would just cut off at the lights or any time I would slow down! I was laughing the whole way, trying to keep the revs up and breaking at the same time! Must have gone through half a tank of gas in 50km… Had it pretty sussed out by the time I arrived home! Think no matter how wacked Tones and I were from the trip we had no option but to laugh! Finally 3am rolled round and I was passed out!

Monday was pretty busy! Unpacking, catching up on the washing etc… I’d managed to squeeze all the houses and the offices I had to clean in one day, Thank god the people that hire me are so understanding and supportive! I don’t know what I’d be doing if I didn’t have this job!!

Tuesday was a complete rest day, well away from work anyway, I was completely shattered from the last couple of days so made the most of the morning lying in bed!! Then the avo was spent going for a spin and re-packing everything…

Right now I’m at the Auckland airport bored and waiting to get on the plane to Wellington! Can you tell!! I’m rambling on about complete crap!! Hehehe…. that’s all for now folks….. Over

Hey! Well It’s the second day of the tour now , and things are not going quite as good as I was hoping! The tour’s 5 days, 6 stages! Last year I was riding pretty good, even with a bung shoulder, the legs were still able to handle the racing, but this year it’s a different story!

Stage 1 = 1hr+3 laps crit! Well right from the start I knew I was not quite right! Legs were non existent , they just would not turn, there is not much to say really I finished with the bunch and was glad when the race was over!

Stage2= 100km road stage! New day another race!! We had a team plan for 3 of us to cover the first half of the race and the rest of the girls were to try out for the QOM, There was a major climb at 69km and I knew the hill was gonna be hard!! The little mountain goats stayed with the main group. Which was good, and the rest of us were stoked when the stage was finally over! Not the best day at the office for me….. Not quite sure whats happening but I just don’t feel right!!

Stage3 = 125km, bloody had, it was pretty hilly right from the start, and we finished with a 10km climb, well, I didn’t do too bad today, I tried to help out my team mates as much as I could, feeding, covering breaks and trying to close a couple of gaps, then I got dropped about 30km to and juts rode to the finish, knowing tomorrow was going to be a better day!

Stage 4= 120km around Mirimar. 12 laps of a 10km, circuit that was pretty winding and had a hill about 800m long with a really steep downhill with like 4 hairpins…. So the plan was to go early , stay out of trouble and see what happens. I waited for the first sprint and hill climb to be over then 2.5 laps into as soon as I saw the front I attacked! Had a wee gap, then an American and team Menikini rider bridged across and we were away!! We worked pretty well together, had a gap of 2-3 min most of the way then till about 13km to go we got pulled in, so that was pretty stink! I was pretty proud of myself though, I did what I said I was going to do and one day I know it will pay off… Anyway there was a massive pile up towards the finish! Unfortunately Serena and Carissa were caught up in it, but were ok, I saw the footage on the news, it was pretty impressive!!

Stage5 = 7km ITT, Well for me this was a matter of just riding and spinning the legs out, I was not in contention for the GC and had to finish in 1 piece. One of the Webcor girls got blown off the bike and apparently broke her collarbone and possibly her hip!! Crasy you can do so much damage in an individual race!!

Stage 6 = 1hours crit =3laps. This was held downtown Wellington, well last year I was out of the race and had packed my bike up before the race was over, so I was in 2 minds about how this year will end up! Well I didn’t get dropper (almost), and I didn’t get lapped or pulled out, I didn’t quite make the breakaway group either, but I did manage to see the front of the chasing bunch about 3 times! So that was pretty darn cool! Heheheh… can only get better I guess!! :P

Anyway, even though most of the time I was racing I kept thinking how next year I’m gonna be a trackie for the summer, and I felt like complete crap the whole week, I did manage to pull a couple of good things out of it!! I started to ride slightly better and hung in there and finished it, and ….. Managed to get a bit of TV time!! Woohooo!!!

So after the tour it was straight to packing the bike and bags up on the sidewalk and off to the airport and back to reality!! I said a little prayer in Welly airport for my was to start, and what do you know the rollerskate fired up first go!! Yussss!!!!! It ended up being a pretty late night, on the way home I had 1 office to clean, then for some warped reason I thought I’d unpack my bike and do washing… I guess I was still slightly buzzing from the racing!!

Righto, that’s all for now folks!! Hope everyone’s good!! And cheers for your comments, its bloody cool!!!! J
